Ellen the Felon and the Mattronome

Ellen the Felon and the Mattronome are a 2 piece, punk jazz, cabaret powerhouse that have been playing in and around the St. Louis area for about 4 years now. Their music is an amalgam of jazz piano confessionals, cabaret dramatics and equally seductive and snarky balladry. The duo grew up together and their chemistry shines through with force on stage. They feed off the energy of the crowd and each other, using it to inspire a whole spectrum of emotions. You’ll laugh, cry, drink, dance and  almost never see the changes coming. Complicated timing and intricate progressions leave the audience intrigued and entertained.

The ERBD Gang is a group of no-nonsense fusionistas who are crazy about dancing and having fun! We are full of attitude, humor, sensuality and sass and continue to push the limits of fusion bellydance to the max!

Sumaiya

Originally from St. Louis, Sumaiya first began belly dancing in Sarasota, Florida after watching the performance of a mesmerizing dance troupe at a Renaissance Festival at the Ringling Museum of Art.    Her focus began with Turkish and Gypsy-style belly dance.  Currently Sumaiya mesmerizes audiences throughout St. Louis, performing at cultural and art festivals, university programs, charity events, local restaurants and clubs, and private celebrations of all kinds.  You will often catch her at Nara Café and Hookah Bar on Washington Avenue.

This year at Naughti Gras, Bootgrabbers Delight will aslo feature percussionist Marty Spikner and Brice Paytono on Trombone.DJ ALEXIS and the HOUSE KINGS

Co-Founder of The Hot House Sessions and St. Louis music enthusiest, DJ ALEXIS has been gracing stages and wide variety musical audiences for over a decade.  With her sexy sultry house music selections and rockin’ dancefloor grooves, she has paved way for deejays to join forces with live musicians… providing a three dimensional performance to the art of djing. The tones touch on Latin, R&B and electro jazz rhythms guaranteed to fuel your fire! The HOUSE KINGS is a rotating all star cast of some of St. Louis’ hotest musicians.  Typically the line up consists of percussion, guitar, bass and horns.  Larger shows add vibes, upright bass, additional percussionists and occasionally a hip-hop dj that cuts and scratches samples over the house music.  Its really a unique performance with a whole lotta soul!

Naughti Gras FAQ:

Does the Koken Art Factory take a commission on art sales?

-The KAF does not take any commission from the art that is sold at our event.  If an individual is interested in making a purchase- our staff at the info table at the event will supply a short form to fill out that contains the artist information and the piece. Our staff will give the form to the artist for follow up with the potential buyer at the event, at pick-up, or by email.  There is no SOLD sign put out.

Are the art shows at the Koken Art Factory juried?

-Yes.  A panel of artists from the St. Louis area are picked for each show.  After the deadline to submit the judges get together and look through each submission carefully to make the decision on what art to accept.

Why did only some of the pieces I submitted get accepted?

-Often we receive an overwhelming amount of art submissions for our shows.  We try to offer a variety of different media as well as different artists.  If only some of the work you submitted was picked- it does not necessarily reflect the quality of your work, but possibly the amount of submissions that we received and the amount of space we have to display.

Can I buy tickets in advance for the show?

-Yes!  We have tickets for sale in Shameless Grounds located at the KAF on the corner of Sidney and Ohio, online on this website, and by phone 877.996.4653.

Photo Policy (NEW THIS EVENT)

Naughti Gras PHTOGRAPHY Policy (A more precise explanation of the rules.)

Due to some confusion (partly our fault), we are giving a more complete explanation of the photography
rules for Naughti Gras.  Below we will list what is allowed, what is not allowed, and the reasoning. In the age
of digital photography, we realize the difficulty of defining photographic boundaries but we will do our best.

ALLOWED. “Non-Professional”  cameras used for personal photography. By this we mean small point & shoots
and camera phones. We want everyone to have fun at our show and we are okay with you shooting personal
pics of you and your friends.

NOT ALLOWED. Anything perceived by us to be “professional” photography/videography equipment (this
also includes items like large flashes & tripods). No COMMERCIAL or PROFESSIONAL photography is allowed
without prior consent. If you represent the media or any other organization, you must contact us in advance for
permission to shoot. The right to shoot photos is solely at our discretion. Bottom line, use common sense. If you are walking
around with a high-end digital camera, you will stopped and questioned. You may be asked to return your equipment
to your vehicle. Anyone who is not cooperative will be asked to leave the event.

WHY THIS POLICY? The main goal of this policy is to protect the copyright interests of the participating artists and
performers. While some people don’t mind having their work photographed, others do and we have to respect this.
Same goes with the performers. We are trying to find that delicate balance between letting folks shoot their own
party snapshots, and protecting the participants from having their work exploited by others. If you have any questions,
please contact us in advance or you can stop by our information desk at the event.
