Ellen the Felon and the Mattronome
Ellen the Felon and the Mattronome are a 2 piece, punk jazz, cabaret powerhouse that have been playing in and around the St. Louis area for about 4 years now. Their music is an amalgam of jazz piano confessionals, cabaret dramatics and equally seductive and snarky balladry. The duo grew up together and their chemistry shines through with force on stage. Originally from St. Louis, Sumaiya first began belly dancing in Sarasota, Florida after watching the performance of a mesmerizing dance troupe at a Renaissance Festival at the Ringling Museum of Art. Her focus began with Turkish and Gypsy-style belly dance. Currently Sumaiya mesmerizes audiences throughout St. Louis, performing at cultural and art festivals, university programs, charity events, local restaurants and clubs, and private celebrations of all kinds. Koken Art Factory FAQ:
Does the Koken Art Factory take a commission on art sales?
-The KAF does not take any commission from the art that is sold at our event. If an individual is interested in making a purchase- our staff at the info table at the event will supply a short form to fill out that contains the artist information and the piece. Our staff will give the form to the artist for follow up with the potential buyer at the event, at pick-up, or by email. There is no SOLD sign put out.
Are the art shows at the Koken Art Factory juried?
-Yes. A panel of artists from the St. Louis area are picked for each show. After the deadline to submit the judges get together and look through each submission carefully to make the decision on what art to accept.
Why did only some of the pieces I submitted get accepted?
-Often we receive an overwhelming amount of art submissions for our shows. We try to offer a variety of different media as well as different artists. If only some of the work you submitted was picked- it does not necessarily reflect the quality of your work, but possibly the amount of submissions that we received and the amount of space we have to display.
Can I buy tickets in advance for the show?
-Yes! We have tickets for sale in Shameless Grounds located at the KAF on the corner of Sidney and Ohio, online on this website, and by phone 877.996.4653.
